Original Skannerz battling

When three monsters have been found and scanned, Skannerz can be used to to battle against monsters from different tribes. There are two types of battles: first one is against computer and it is initiated by scanning a barcode that contains a monster from an another tribe and second one is against human opponent and it can be started by connecting two Skannerz and starting "V.S"-mode. Battle against computer can't be ended in middle of battle, but versus-mode battle can be ended by separating joined Skannerz.

Skannerz battle is based on simple turn-based mechanic. Both of the fighting teams have a three monsters in a predefined order (player can have a three predefined teams). Next monster from the team enters battle when one before it faints or is switched out. When all three monsters from one of the teams faint, battle is over and other team wins. There is no penalty on losing the battle and all the monster can challenged again any time.

Monster class advantages are based on triangle of rock paper scissors. Magic class monsters have the advantage over Power class monsters, Power class monsters have the advantage over Tech class monsters, and Tech class monsters have the advantage over Magic class monsters. Class advantages affects monster ability to dodge opponents attacks and make attacker less likely to miss hit when attacking. Class advantage also adds one extra damage point when attacking and removes one damage when taking hit from weaker class.

Monster stats and attacks determinite how battle goes. Monster with higher speed stat will always attack first. Defence stat determinites how likely monster is able to dodge attack. Attack damage determinites how much damage attack will deal to opponent monster. Some attacks also have a poison effect that will deal a extra damage on top of attack damage after monster has been poisoned. Every monster has a different amount of HP points that grow when monster participates in a victorious battle.

Monster can also use items that player has in his inventory. Some of the items have a class requirements that must be met in order to use them. Opponent monsters are also capable of using different items.

Battle sequence

Battle starts by scanning a barcode that contains a monster from another tribe. Player must have at least one team (three non-fainted monsters). If player has no team, it must be created. If player already has team, one team out of the three predefined teams must be selected. Opponents team also has three monster and first one is always the monster that player scanned. Second two are chosen randomly from opponents tribe.

Everytime when new monster enters battle, player monster and opponent monster are introduced. Player is able view name of the opponent monster but not other stats. Opponents stats are randomly generated based on the player monster stats. Monster with a higher speed stat will start.

Every turn player has three options. The first one is to attack. The second one is to use item. The third one is to change attacking monster. Every choise spends one turn.

When attacking, player can choose which one of the monsters attack move he wants to use. For most the monsters last learned attack causes most of the damage, for some monsters this is not true (for example Webhog has second attack that is more powerful than third). It might be also wise to first use monsters poisoning attack if it is available.

Post-battle

If player team defeats opponent team, all monsters in the player team gain a HP point. When monster reaches 30 HP points it will gain a level two attack. When monster reaches 70 HP points it will gain a level three attack. Leveling up can also increase monsters speed and defence. Maximum HP of monster is 99.

Monsters also have a EXP stat which increases when monster is part team winning battle. Confusingly this is not related to monster level, but is just counter of how many times monster has been victorious. Stats of the battles can be also viewed from "PLAYER" menu.
